It’s Time to Stand with the Widows and Orphans of Those Who Served

The Hebrew Order of David International’s newly formed Philanthropy Fund will support the widows and orphans served by the IDFWO, through a dedicated scholarship endowment fund, the Hebrew Order of David International Endowment Fund.

We have a unique opportunity to make an immediate impact. The HOD Philanthropy Fund will match every dollar we raise for the Hebrew Order of David Endowment Fund up to $100,000.

Since Oct 7, 2023, the number of widows and children who have lost one or both parents has increased by more than 750, equivalent to a 1,200% annual increase!. They need our help. They need your donation now to the The Hebrew Order of David International Endowment Fund,  administered by the IDF Widows and Orphans Organization.

Ensuring Their Futures

The IDF Widows & Orphans Organization (IDFWO), established in 1991 to operate on the basis of the Fallen Soldiers’ Families Law, supports and empowers the widows and orphans of fallen servicemen of the IDF, police officers, and other security personnel. Among its numerous programs and support initiatives, annual scholarships are a crucial component to foster the academic and personal growth of widows and adult orphans within the organization.

This significant increase of widows and orphans means that the IDFWO must be prepared to grant scholarships to those who qualify today, as well as those who will reach educational milestones in the coming years. With such an influx of orphans under the age of 18, the IDF Widows and Orphans Organization anticipates a substantial need to expand the scholarship program.

We owe an eternal debt to those who have paid the highest price for our shared Jewish and Israeli society.

“The charity a person gives for the support of orphans is a great mitzvah, for they are young and sad, bereft of the parent, who could show them compassion. [One who gives such funds] is called [by the The Psalmist, 106:3 says that “One who performs tzedaka at all times,” [i.e., the effects of his tzedaka are lifelong].

It’s Time to Step Up

Beginning in 2025, when individual scholarships are expected to increase to 9,000 ILS per recipient, the endowment will fund several scholarships annually, creating a lasting legacy of support for future generations.

We invite you and your family and friends to step up and stand with the widows and orphans of fallen servicemen of the IDF, police officers, and other security personnel.
